About Richardson and Smith
Richardson and Smith have been established in the Whitby area for over 130 years, founded by Charles Smith in 1887, and descendants of the founder remain within the partnership. He was succeeded by his grandson, Also Charles Smith who later combined with another local auctioneer, Alan Richardson, to form Richardson and Smith. Although Mr Richardson left the business many years ago, the name has remained and descendants of the founder are still partners in the business.
We are a traditional firm of Auctioneers, Estate Agents and Valuers covering professional advice in all aspects of urban and rural property, live and deadstocks. We run weekly livestock sales from our market at Ruswarp. The business runs from our Whitby office.
